Whether you’re genuinely interested in the surfing, want to see an Australian win or are praying Slater will retire, the title race can be very confusing.

The Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons is the tenth and final stop on the ASP World Championship Tour (WCT).

The contest has had 4 consecutive lay days but conditions are looking to improve.

After the elimination of Mick Fanning, Pipeline is set to host a dramatic finish between Joel Parkinson(AUS),31, and reigning 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 40.

Parkinson has to beat Slater to win the title but they aren’t going to come up against each other unless they make the final.

If you’re like me and find this all too confusing, hopefully this will make it easier :

If Parkinson finishes13th, 9th or 5th – Slater needs a 5th or higher.If Parkison finishes equal 3rd – Slater needs a 3rd or higher.

If Parkinson finishes 2nd – Slater has to win.
If Parkinson take the crown, Australia will have dominated the surf world this year with Stephanie Gilmore clinching the ASP Women’s World Title.
